Do it yourself Christmas decoration: Tips for tinkering with children
Paint and paste Christmas baubles yourself promotes creativity and motor activity
The classic Christmas baubles combined with other glass ornaments in the shape of olives, cones and bells make up the main part of the Christmas tree decoration. Many of us have a fixed assortment of glass ornaments and use them every year. Sometimes during the decorating process, especially when children are involved, one or two of them break, so new ones have to be organized. Instead of replacing the ornament identically, you can also take the opportunity to make the Christmas decorations yourself with the children. This brings variety and promotes creativity and motor activity of the little ones.
Christmas baubles DIY with children: These materials are suitable
To make Christmas decorations for the Christmas tree yourself is not that difficult. You will need plastic Christmas tree decorations as well as waterproof felt-tip pens, liquid glue and small decorative items such as feathers, rhinestones, etc. There are no limits to your creativity, and you can get everything you need at decorating retailers (online or specialty stores). Why not plan a Christmas decoration afternoon with the little ones, where you lay out all the utensils on a large table. To give the children some inspiration as to how the homemade Christmas baubles can look like, feel free to show individual Christmas baubles from our range:
- Plain white Christmas tree balls: our high-quality glass balls are decorated with floral patterns or stars, for example. Children can easily copy this and draw the patterns with felt-tip pens.
- Colorful glass birds: our beautiful glass birds have a tail made of fiberglass or feathers. This can serve as inspiration for the kids to glue feathers to their own Christmas baubles. To do this, simply place small dots of glue on the ball and then press on a feather.
Already make decorating a celebration!
Most children have a lot of fun helping to decorate the Christmas tree. This heralds the Christmas season for them and they can actively participate and look at the result afterwards. Beside your usual Christmas tree balls, the self-made Christmas decorations should be placed carefully together. In addition, you can make the little ones happy by letting them choose a little something for themselves from our online shop. Individual ornaments in the form of animal figures, for example, are a favorable way to warm children’s hearts.
